An Adair County juvenile was arrested last week after the Adair County Sheriff’s department investigated a rash of complaints in the Pellyton area that began on Dec. 5.
A resident at 555 Barnetts Creek Rd filed a complaint with Deputy BJ Bray. A number of items had been taken from his property to include his mailbox, a chainsaw and tool boxes. The items were found in his pond.

While Deputy Bray was investigating that incident, a neighbor stopped to report vandalism as well. She stated that her mailbox was also torn down and the street sign for Tamarack Road was missing.
The sign was located and the mailbox temporarily repaired. Over the next few days, Deputy Aaron Rainwater began investigating several complaints in the same area. Several vehicles had been damaged and 11 windows were broken out of a house at 385 Barnetts Creek Rd.
Early in the morning on Dec. 7th, Deputy Rainwater was called out to investigate a fire that occurred at 555 Barnetts Creek Rd. This was the same residence that had been vandalized earlier in the week.
After a tip from someone at the scene, Deputy Rainwater interviewed a Juvenile that lived in the area. The Juvenile was arrested and lodged in the Adair County Youth Development Center. He was charged with arson 1st degree, criminal mischief and burglary 3rd degree. Deputy Rainwater stated that other charges are pending until the investigation is completed.
