Kathleen Loy Buchanan, 83, of Glasgow, formerly of Adair County, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2012 at her home near Glasgow.

She was born on Nov. 6, 1928 in Fairplay and was the daughter of the late Robert and Nola Brummett Loy.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Colby L. Buchanan Sr. on Dec. 27, 1999; two sons, Colby Buchanan, Jr. and James Buchanan; and by five brothers, Dellous Loy, Elmer Loy, Clifton Loy, Johnny Loy and Wesley Loy.

She is survived by six daughters, Donna Gaikowski of Laguna Niquel, Calif., Rosemary Yahne of St. Louis, Mo., Rita Dilbeck of Newcastle, Calif., Vicky Compton of the Nell community, Esther Buchanan of Lebanon and Kathy Buchanan of Sedona, Ariz.; two sons, Mark Buchanan of Glasgow and John Buchanan of Louisville; three brothers, David Loy of LaGrange, Sam Loy of Louisville and Joe Frank Loy of Columbia; and by three sisters, Evalee Churchill and Sophia Wheelock, both of Ypsilanti, Mich. and Vicky Green of Columbia.

Seventeen grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Mrs. Buchanan was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Glasgow and was a homemaker.

Funeral service was Saturday, Feb. 18 at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with Bro. Darrell Landis officiating with burial in Loy Cemetery at Fairplay.

Pallbearers were Donnie Bennett, Buddy Green, Norman Green, Jonathon Kingrey, Todd Robertson, David Schorman and Michael Yahnee.
