Saturday June 24, 2017 is all about the kids at the Farmers Market on the Square in Columbia. Here’s your chance to get them up off the couch and disconnected from technology for a day.
Everyone’s invited to join us at the Farmers Market on the Square for Kid’s Nutrition Day on Saturday June 24, 2017, 8am – 1pm CT. The Farmers Market on the Square is located on the corner of Campbellsville St. and Merchant St. in Columbia. We’re right across the street from the Columbia City Hall and next door to the Judicial Center.
There’ll be food, fun, entertainment and special gifts for the kids at the market.
Farmer Brown will be performing throughout the day at FM2 Columbia. Farmer Browns raps about everything from tilling to fertilizer. He’s a super cool dude that kids can relate to – he makes farming and understanding where our food comes from exciting and fun.
At the Kid’s Kitchen, the kids will learn to make peach smoothies from the Simply in Season cookbook. The first 25 kids (ages 6 to 10) will take home a free cookbook.
At the Square Meals Cafe’ the kids will learn about food groups and healthy portions. Every kid (age 4 to 10) will receive a uniquely designed Square Meals Portion Plate to take home.
The Lindsey Wilson Campus Kitchen will be promoting healthy food choices with exciting activities at their booth.
The Lake Cumberland Health Department will be there to teach you about the 5, 2, 1, 0 rule and offering free sunscreen.
And Kid’s Bucks are back! The Farmers Market on the Square will give each child (age 4 and up) $5 in Kid’s Bucks coupons to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables at the market.
Remember the Square Meals Café offers free breakfast and lunch every Saturday at the Farmers Market on the Square to all kids and students.
