Richard Marrapodi, 23, of Columbia was found dead on Friday night in his home on Knifley Road after it had caught fire.
Knifley Area Volunteer Fire Department arrived first on the scene and was later assisted by Columbia-Adair County Fire Department and Clementsville Fire Department.
After support arrived, Marrapodi was found inside the home. An autopsy was performed in Louisville and a preliminary report indicates Marrapodi died from smoke inhalation. Carbon monoxide and toxicology tests were performed. Results can take up to four weeks.
Kentucky State Police were notified and Detective Jamie Richard and Arson Investigator Alex Wesley investigated the fire.
According to Kentucky State Police Trooper Billy Gregory, investigators are still waiting on test results and could not confirm the cause of the fire.
No foul play is suspected at the time and the investigation is ongoing.
