The Adair County High School softball team opened the 2013 season last week. Adair County split a pair of non-district games, falling to Russell County then defeating Hart County.
Russell County made the most of its offensive opportunities and pulled away to defeat longtime rival Adair County 11-5 on Thursday.

Russell County had defeated Monroe County 16-2 in five innings in a season-opener two days earlier.
Following the loss to Russell County, one day later, Adair County entertained 5th Region counterpart Hart County. The Lady Indians notched their first win of the season over Hart County, defeating the visiting 5th Region rival 7-4. Hart County dropped its second straight game, slipping to 3-2.
With the win over Hart County, the Lady Indians evened their overall record to 1-1.
Adair County entered the week with games on the late versus Monroe County (March 25), Caverna (March 28), Marion County (March 29), Russell County (March 29) and McCreary Central (March 30), weather permitting. Adair County is scheduled to visit Russell County for the Lady Laker Classic Friday, March 29-Saturday, March 30.
The Lady Indians entered the 2013 season ranked eighth in the Kentucky Softball Coaches Association’s 5th Region Poll.
