With the regular season nearing a close next Friday night, Adair County will face off against two tough teams this coming week. The Lady Indians are 21-5 this season after two wins last week and finished undefeated in the district during the regular season.
On Friday night, Adair County will host Russell County in a rematch of a game that ended in overtime three weeks ago. The Lady Lakers are 13-9 this season and Adair County prevailed 63-59 during the last meeting.
“They (Russell County) are a young and improving team,” Coach James Turner said. “Last time we won in overtime.”
After a tough game on Friday, Adair County will travel to Bardstown on Tuesday night in another tough matchup. The Lady Tigers are 18-6 this year and one of the top five teams in the 5th region with a 9-3 record against region opponents.
“Bardstown is a very good team with a Kentucky Miss Basketball candidate, Alexis Brewer,” Coach Turner said. “This will be a real test for us on the road.”
Brewer for Bardstown is averaging 21 points per game and 7 rebounds per game. She also shoots 41 percent from the field including 40 percent from 3-point range and will be a main focus for the Lady Indians in order to notch the win.
