Leon C. Lasley, Sr., 63, of Campbellsville, passed away Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012 at Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville.

He was born on Jan. 21, 1949 in Adair County.

He was a member and deacon of Santa Fee Baptist Church and had been employed by Lake Cumberland Head Start, Summit Manor Nursing Home and Metzmeier Nursing Home.

He loved the game of basketball, especially University of Louisville. His favorite phrase was, “Get in there you rascal you.”

He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard Lasley; one sister, Freda Elosie Lasley; a niece, Elisha Ann Lasley; and his step father, Henry Maddox.

He is survived by his wife, Paulette Staton Lasley of Campbellsville; his mother, Maxine Cheatham Lasley Maddox of Campbellsville; two sons, Leon, Jr. (Tracy) Lasley and Tiran LaVon Lasley, all of Campbellsville; one sister, Hilda (Jorge) Moreno of Bardstown; eight grandchildren, Christopher, Travon, Latron, Savon, Kobe, Trever, Raylee and Ethen; two uncles, J.C. (Bonita) Lasley of Columbia and Owen P. (Ernestine) Cheatham of Indianapolis, Ind.; and by two aunts, Lillie Duvall of Columbia and Irene Burks of St. Louis, Mo.

Several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and a host of friends also survive.

Funeral service is Friday, Jan. 4 at 1 p.m. at Santa Fee Baptist Church with Rev. Louis Henry delivering the eulogy with burial in Lasley Cemetery.

Visitation is after 5 p.m. this evening at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home and after 11 a.m. Friday at the church.

Casket bearers are Christopher Lasley, Everick Lasley, Craig Lasley, Donald Lasley, Brent Lasley and Nathan Lasley.

Honorary casket bearers are Jimmy Hughes, Juan Hughes, Stanley Johnson, Don Metzmeier, Ricky Lile, Ezra Curry, Ben Smith, Mike Graves, Foster Graves, Randall Graves and Kenneth Jackson.

Flowers girls are Teriea Graves, Jackie Pillow, Lisa Lasley, Quinn Lasley, Devanee Lasley, Amaya Lasley, Becky Staton-Taylor and Teresa Igo.
