SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT MAKES COCAINE ARREST
Sheriff Deputies Justin Cross and Jared Conover were dispatched to Integrity Auto Sales on HWY East 80 Friday night on a report of an individual attempting to break into a vehicle after business hours.
Deputies located upon arrival Steven Huff at the property. Search of Huff yielded two baggies on his person that field tested positive for cocaine. Steven Huff, 29, of Millerfield, was taken into custody by the Adair Sheriff’s Deputies and charged with possession of a controlled substance, cocaine 1st offense. Huff was lodged in the Adair County Jail.
CITY POLICE MAKE POSSESSION ARREST
Columbia Police Department arrested an Adair County man on drug charges and multiple warrants after a traffic stop Friday in the limits of Columbia.
At approximately 4:54 p.m. Officer Josh Brockman initiated a traffic stop around the 900 block of Jamestown Street on a green 1997 Buick for a moving violation. The Buick was operated by 43-year-old Dewayne Melson of Columbia. As a result of the traffic stop Melson was arrested on charges of Improper Signal, Operating a Motor Vehicle on a Suspended License, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of a Controlled Substance 2nd Degree, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Prescription Controlled Substance not in Proper Container.
Additionally officers served two outstanding Warrants of Arrest from Adair County District Court and one from Knox County District Court. Melson was lodged in Adair County Regional Jail by Ofc. Josh Brockman and Det. Tracy McCarol.
