Lorene Spoon, 82, of Melson Ridge Road Community, died Sunday, June 11, 2017 at the Liberty Care Center. She was born on Dec. 21, 1934 in Fairplay and was the daughter of the late Wint and Lela Hadley Spoon. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, James Oliver Spoon. She is survived by two sisters, Margaret Ann Lawless and Edith Flatt and her husband Billy, all of Jamestown; and a special friend, Sam Back of Jamestown. Several nieces, nephews, family and friends also survive. She professed her faith at Griders Chapel Church and also attended the Creelsboro Christian Church when able. She retired from Osh Kosh where she worked for many years. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, the outdoors and loved being surrounded with family and friends. Funeral service was Wednesday, June 14 at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Johnson officiating and interment at the Regan Cemetery in Glensfork. Pallbearers were Doug Flatt, Daryl Flatt, Brandon Flatt, Rod Lawless, Charles Back and Jimmy Miller Back. Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home was in charge of funeral arrangements.
