COLUMBIA, Ky. – The No. 18-ranked Lindsey Wilson football team hosts Kentucky Wesleyan at 6 p.m. CT on Saturday night at Blue Raider Stadium as part of Homecoming weekend.
The Blue Raiders (1-1) are coming off a 52-48 loss to Reinhardt (Ga.) in the home opener last Saturday.
Quarterback Branden Cresap threw a single-game, program-record 490 yards, and matched his own program-record of five touchdowns. Trailing by four with fewer than two minutes to play, Cresap once again attempted to lead the Blue Raiders down the field in the back-and-forth game. But a pass intended for Chaz Barnes was intercepted and the Eagles were able to run out the clock to end the game.
The Blue Raiders had five turnovers in the loss.
Cortez Barber totaled 128 yards and two touchdowns. The Bowling Green, Kentucky, native leads the team with 240 receiving yards, which is ranked sixth in the NAIA.
Dakota Brown leads the team in rushing with 113 yards on 18 attempts. Tavis Elzy has three touchdown receptions on the year to go along with his 148 receiving yards.
Defensively, Treon Hill leads the squad with 18 tackles followed by Eric Shaw and Jordan Elery with 17 each. Senior Andrew Wahl has four sacks on the year.
Lindsey Wilson is the top team in the NAIA with 772 total passing yards and has allowed just one sack in two games. The Blue Raiders rank No. 5 in total scoring offense after putting up 92 points in two weeks of play.
This will be the second meeting between Lindsey Wilson and Kentucky Wesleyan. The Blue Raiders won the only matchup 39-20 on Sept. 14, 2013 in Owensboro, Kentucky.
Cresap accumulated 303 yards and five scores through the air, while Chris Dobbins and Matt Powers each hauled in two touchdowns. Treon Hill led the team with eight total tackles and one tackle for a loss in that game.
The Panthers (0-1) come off a 41-21 loss to Kentucky State. Quarterback Dalton Oliver threw for 284 yards and three touchdowns with two interceptions in that game. Tyler Hermann and Cody Mills lead the defense with seven total tackles.
