Lindsey Wilson men’s and women’s swimming coach Alicia Kemnitz has been selected as an American Swimming Coaches Association Coach of Excellence for 2014.
The honor is reserved for coaches who guide their teams or individuals to a top-eight finish at a USA Swimming national-level meet or a USA collegiate championship.
Laura Stephenson finished sixth in the 200 yard butterfly event at the 2014 NAIA Swimming National Championships to make Kemnitz eligible for the award. Stephenson’s finish helped the Blue Raider women score 106 points and finish 10th.
The honor is the second ASCA award for Kemnitz. Kemnitz received the same honor in 2013 after leading the men’s 400-yard medley relay team to a sixth-place finish at the 2012 NAIA Swimming National Championships.
The Blue Raiders return to the pool in the fall for the start of the 2015-16 swimming season.
