The Lindsey Wilson women’s track & field finished in third place on Saturday at the Centre Invitational.
The Blue Raiders racked up 93 total team points to finish just half of a point behind runner-up finisher and host Centre (Ky.). Bellarmine (Ky.) won the invitational with 214 total points.
Janice Brown grabbed two individual victories on the day in the field events.
She began with a win in the long jump, recording a distance of 5.32 meters (17-05.50 feet) in the field of 21. Brown also won the triple jump event, which proved to be a 1-2-3 finish for the Blue Raiders.
Brown’s jump of 11.70 meters (38-04.75 feet) won the event, with Maryssa Stewart taking second (10.77 meters; 35-04.00 feet) and Kerry Ann Walker finishing third (10.70 meters; 35-01.25 feet).
Renee Hurd was active for Lindsey Wilson in both the track and field events. She recorded three runner-up finishes and a third place on the day.
Hurd took second in both the 400 meter hurdles at 1:08.37 and the high jump event at 1.52 meters (4-11.75 feet). She added another second place as part of the 4×100 meter relay team that completed the race in a time of 50.27 seconds, along with Chanel Roberts, Kevia Gonzales and Brown.
Hurd added a third-place in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:01.10.
Roberts won the shot put event with a distance of 13.37 meters (43-10.50 feet), beating out 30 other competitors for the top spot.
Gonzales recorded a pair of top-five finishers, placing third in the 100 meter dash and fifth in the 200 meter dash.
Kassidi Taylor also notched a top-five finish, placing fourth in the pole vault with a height of 2.65 meters (8-08.25 feet).
The Blue Raiders next compete at both the Western Kentucky Invitational and Cumberlands (Ky.) Invitational on April 11.
