The Lindsey Wilson wrestling team jumped two spots to No. 2 in the final regular-season Wrestling Coaches’ Top 20 Poll, the national office announced on Wednesday.
The Blue Raiders are receiving 108.5 total points after moving up from their previous ranking of No. 4 in the Feb. 11 poll.
Grand View (Iowa) remains the No. 1 team receiving 172 total points, while Great Falls (Mont.) is ranked third receiving 105.5 total points.
Five other Mid-South Conference teams are also ranked in the poll. Campbellsville (Ky.) jumped from No. 15 to No. 7, Life (Ga.) fell to No. 16, Cumberland (Tenn.) is ranked 17th, Cumberlands (Ky.) sits at No. 19 and St. Catharine (Ky.) rounds out the conference receiving votes.
In the individual rankings, James Flint represents Lindsey Wilson in the 125-pound weight class with a No. 11 ranking receiving 17.5 total points. Keaton Thomas is ranked fourth in the 133-pound weight class garnering 51 total points and Daniel Leonard sits at No. 5 with 49 total points in the 141-pound weight class.
Isaac Thomas is ranked sixth in the 149-pound weight class receiving 39 total points, while Joe Cozart is ranked second with 72 total points in the 157-pound weight class. Erick Gomez sits at No. 5 in the 174-pound weight class with 48 total points and Michael Pixley is ranked first in the 184-pound weight class with 80 points.
Jake Maupin and Chico Adams round out the Blue Raiders as each is ranked sixth in the 197-pound weight class and 285-pound weight class, respectively. Maupin received 45 total points and Adams garnered 35 total points.
Lindsey Wilson most recently claimed first place out of 13 teams at the NAIA East Qualifier on Feb. 21 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Nine Blue Raider individuals also punched their ticket to the NAIA National Championship, which is scheduled for March 7 in Topeka, Kansas.
The postseason Coaches’ Top 20 poll is scheduled to be released March 12.
