A man who was shot after he attempted to enter a home on Church Street on Wednesday, March 28 has died.
Dante Sangster, 28, died Monday as a result of the injury he received after being shot in the neck by Michael “Ed” Dial, 46.
Police say Sangster attempted to enter Dial’s residence at 200 Church St. armed with a semi-automatic handgun. Sangster was in the doorway when a short interaction between the men took place and Dial fired a single shot. Dial called 911 following the shooting.
Police believe Sangster had made multiple threats against Dial and his family members. Sangster had been in a relationship with Dial’s step-daughter and they have children in common, according to officials.
Sangster would have possibly faced charges had he survived. Dial is not expected to be charged, according to Columbia City Police. Sgt. Junior Murphy investigated the case.
