Margaret Dunn, 85, of Columbia, passed away suddenly Friday, July 15, 2016 from injuries received in an automobile accident on Dunbar Hill near Knifley. Her sister, Josephine Hubbard, 83, also passed away Friday as a result of injuries received in the same accident.

She was born May 7, 1931 near Knifley and was the daughter of the late Edward and Purnie Emma Cox Rice of Columbia.

She was preceded in death by one son, Kevin “Nator” Brockman in January 2016; one grandchild, Amanda Vaughn; and one brother, Robert E. Lee Rice.

She is survived by two sons, Roger Burton (Anita Durbin) and Danny Brockman; six daughters, Sharon Brockman Bates (Buddy) of Knifley, Sherry Brockman Hodges (Mike) of Bowling Green, Donna Brockman Loy (Timmy) of Knifley, Sandy Brockman Crawhorn (Rhea Baker) of Columbia, Connie Brockman Ferguson (Mike) of Knifley an Tonya Dunn of Louisville; two brothers, Wyman Douglas Rice and Joseph Earl Rice both of Lexington; and one sister, Martha Roberta Crouch of Columbia. Ten grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends also survive.

Margaret was a member of the Plum Point Baptist Church, a retired sewing machine operator for Osh Kosh, a member of the Janice Holt Giles Society and the Adair Genealogy Society.

A joint funeral service with her sister, Josephine Rice Hubbard, was held Tuesday, July 19 at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with Bro. Lewis Haynes officiating and interment in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

Pallbearers were David Brockman, Melissa Brockman, Sherry Brockman, Roger Lee Burton, Jessica Fair and Eric Hodges.

Honorary pallbearers were Destiny Greer, Brittany Brockman, Chelsea Miller and Stephanie Yates.
