Margaret Sparks, 88, of Columbia, Kentucky, died Monday, September 4, 2017 at 11:53 P.M. at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow.

She was born August 29, 1929, in Adair County, to the late Holland and Della Smith Estes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J.E. “Ell” Sparks in 1985, a step-son; Willard Sparks and an Honorary Grandson, Tony Grider.

She was a member of Breeding United Methodist Church, serving as Treasurer for many years, served as Overseer of the Fudge Cemetery, a member of the Chamber of Commerce, member of the former Westlake Regional Hospital Auxiliary and retired from Houchen’s

Survivors include:

Two step-children – Joe Sparks of Breeding, Gayle (Jim) Crain of Greenville, Indiana

Two step-grandchildren – Cabe (Denise) Crain and Julie Meadows

Four step-great-grandchildren – Colton and Reagan Crain, Celia and Corey Meadows

Step-daughter-in-law – Betty Sparks of Elizabethtown

Special Family members – Orvis and Shirley Grider and their daughter, Tammy Grider of Columbia

Special friend – Kenneth Scott of Columbia and his daughter, Cheryl A. Holland and family of Bowling Green

Funeral service – Friday, September 8, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Lemmon officiating

Burial in Fudge Cemetery in Breeding

Casket Bearers: Josh Grider, Cabe Crain, Chaz Dunn, Terry Harvey, Sammy Booher, Nick Dabney

Honorary: Jacob Grider, Jordan Grider
