Mike Branson, 66, of the Montpelier community of Adair County, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2016 at his home after several months battling with cancer.

Mike was born on Feb. 9, 1950 in East Chicago, Ind., and was the son of the late James Emmanuel Branson. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Randall Branson and by two sisters, Debra Zaradich and Judy Branson.

He is survived by his mother, Shirley Rose Crowe Branson of Elizabethtown; his wife, Kim Schmidt Branson of Columbia; two sons, David Gregory Branson and Stephen Douglas Branson, both of Culver, Ind.; one step son, Louis Locander of Greenwood, Ind., two brothers, Douglas Branson of Elizabethtown and Gregory Branson of Merryville, Ind.; two sisters, Carla Branson of Cincinnati, Ohio and Laura McCormick of Muncie, Ind.

Ten grandchildren, two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Mr. Branson was a member of Columbia Christian Church, A U.S. Navy veteran, an electrician and cable networking installer for many years. He was a black powder enthusiast and was a contributing writer for On the Trail Magazine for many years.

A memorial service will be held in October at Columbia Christian Church. The date will be announced later.

Mike chose cremation with burial of his ashes to be in the Columbia Cemetery.
