Columbia celebrates the National Day of Prayer with a gathering led by Dr. Tony Evans. On the first Thursday of May since 1952, the National Day of Prayer Task force mobilizes others to pray for the nation and engage in spiritual reflection. This is best exemplified in this year’s theme verse Isaiah 58:1, “Shout it aloud, do not hold back. Raise your voice like a trumpet.” This year’s theme is Wake Up America, prompting individuals to contemplate the closeness of their relationship with God. There will be an assembly of prayer at noon on Thursday, May 5th outside the Courthouse Annex where the 2016 Honorary Chairman Dr. Tony Evans will lead with a special prayer to be simultaneously read throughout the nation. All persons in Adair County are welcome to come and pray for our country.
