OBIT: Eileen Compton, 83

Eileen Compton, 83, formerly of the Nell community in Adair County, passed away Monday, Jan. 30, 2012 at the Barren County Health Center in Glasgow after several months illness.

She was born on May 9, 1928 in Whiteville, N.C. and was the daughter of the late Boss Elder and Lou Bertie Soles Coleman.

Mrs. Compton was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton Howard Compton on Oct. 21, 2000.

She is survived by three sons, Clayton Timothy Compton and his wife Vicky of Edmonton, Mark Compton and his wife Debbie of Glasgow and Daniel Compton and his wife Mary of Fisherville; and by seven grandchildren, Candice Robertson, Crystal Kingery, Nathan Compton, Hannah Colvin, Sara Kyle, William Compton and Robert Compton.

Eleven great grandchildren, one sister and a host of other relatives and friends also survive.

Mrs. Compton was the pastor of Grace Chapel in the Nell community for 23 years, was a homemaker and she enjoyed gardening, cooking and reading.

Funeral service is today at 11 a.m. at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with Bro. Daniel Compton officiating with interment in the Moore Cemetery at Gradyville.
