OBIT: Florence Wheeler, 86

Florence Wheeler, 86, of Columbia, formerly of Brazil, Ind., passed away Sunday, Jan. 29, 2012 at her home after several weeks illness.

She was born on May 1, 1925 in Poland, Ind. and was the daughter of the late John Pete and Flo Etta Veach Deardoff and was the widow of Earon Wheeler of Adair County who preceded her in death on Aug. 12, 2004.

She was also preceded in death by one son, Steven Wheeler on Aug. 18, 1970 and by her brothers, Paul Deardorff, Earl Steuerwald and one sister, Lois Mace.

She is survived locally by one nephew, Donnie Wheeler; her nieces, Linda Hendrickson, Connie Wheeler, Phyllis Kearney, Pat Downey, Diane Hatcher, Sandy Wheeler and Jeannie Cox.

She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Renee Frazier, Robin Andrews, Ron Deardorff and Forrest Steuerwald; and by several other great nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Mrs. Wheeler attended Hadley Community Church, was a key punch operator for American Standard and was also a homemaker.

Funeral service was Tuesday, Jan. 31 at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with Bro. Elbert Hadley officiating with interment in Haven Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Scotty Carter, Chase Cox, Kerry Cox, Danny Downey, Doug Hatcher and Eric Hatcher.
