OBIT: Lois Whitney Gilpin

Lois Whitney Gilpin, 94, of Campbellsville, formerly of Adair County, passed away Sunday, July 29, 2012 in Columbia.

She was the daughter of the late James A. Whitney and Elsie Smalling Whitney.

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of First United Methodist Church, was a retired librarian with Taylor County Public Library.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Burr Gilpin, on March 7, 1967.

She is survived by two daughters, Mary Harrison Gilpin Eaves and her husband James of Louisville, and Gayle Gilpin Rogers and her husband Dr. Ronald Rogers of Columbia; two grandsons, Dr. Adam Patteson Rogers and his wife Lauren, and Matthew Harrison Rogers and his wife Leslie of Bowling Green; and by one great grandson, Bryant Harrison Rogers of Bowling Green.

Several other relatives and friends also survive.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Opal Whitney Boehme in December 2010.

Funeral service was Wednesday, Aug. 1 at Parrott and Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville with Rev. Billy Joe Cox and Rev. Ron Young officiating with burial in Brookside Cemtery.

The family requests expressions of sympathy to be donations to Taylor County Public Library and may be left at the funeral home.

Pallbearers were Phil Allan Bertram, Billy Boehme, Harry Knight, Ed Loy, Paul Riley, Ben Scott and Buddy Shaw.

Parrott and Ramsey Funeral Home was in charge of funeral arrangements.
