Pedestrian Struck by Car

(Columbia, KY) –Tpr. Justin Phillips is investigating a collision that occurred Friday at at 8:25 p.m. on KY 551 south of Columbia.

46-year-old James K. Polston, of Columbia, was walking in the middle of the roadway when he was struck by a northbound, 1995 Ford pickup, operated by 36-year-old Priscilla Greer, of Columbia. Greer attempted an evasive maneuver but was unable to avoid the collision.

Polston was transported from the scene by Adair County EMS to Westlake Regional Hospital where he was flown to UK Medical Center.  Greer was belted and not injured.

The collision remains under investigation and it is unknown as to why Polston was in the roadway.  Tpr. Phillips was assisted at the scene by the Adair County Sheriff’s Department and the Columbia Police Department.
