The public is encouraged to attend a hearing at Columbia City Hall Tuesday, Oct. 25 to voice its support for the Adair School District obtaining a Community Development Block Grant (CDGB) for a new community learning and technical center. The program starts at 5 p.m.
The proposed learning center would offer extensive training in several advanced, high-paying fields, including robotics, mechanics, programmable logic control, electronics, and much more. It would serve students in the Adair School District during the day and—through Somerset Community College—offer evening courses for adults. “These are some of the most in-demand job fields in the state, the entire country right now,” says Supt. Alan Reed. “The classes will be challenging, but if you do the work, you can soon be earning $60,000 to $100,000 and still be able to live right here. This is a life-changer for Adair County if this goes through.”
The entire community is invited to attend the hearing.
