Robert “Bob” Stivers, Jr., 84, of Columbia, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016 at his home.

Bob was born in Henry County on Sept. 7, 1932 and was the oldest child of Paul and Leana Mae Edrington Stivers, Sr.

He was retired from the Kentucky State Police as sargeant on July 31, 1982 after 25 years of distinguished service.

He was a christian and a devoted member of Egypt Christian Church. He was a member of Masonic Lodge in Henry County.

He and his wife Marilyn enjoyed traveling across the U.S. during their many years together. He loved life and loved spending time with his family and dear friends whom will miss him.

He is survived by Marilyn M. Stivers, wife of 25 years, of Columbia; a son, Danny (Elizabeth) Stivers of Smithville; a daughter, Deborah Hardin and her late husband Dwight of Versailles; a brother, Donald (Ann) Stivers of London; a sister, June (E.T.) Smith of New Castle; sister-in-law Linda and her husband Donnie Grider of Columbia; special family members, Donna and Junior Feese of Columbia; and special nieces, Judy A. Kers and Paul Yelinek.

Three grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; three nephews and a host of family members and friends.

Funeral service was Wednesday, Oct. 5 at Egypt Christian Church with Bro. Paul Patton and Rev. Steve Pescosolido officiating with interment in Columbia Cemetery.

Honors were provided by Kentucky State Police Honor Guard.

Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home was in charge of funeral arrangements.
