Ruby Barbee

Ruby Barbee, 92, of Columbia, died Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2017 at Signature Health Care at Summit Manor.

She was born on July 5, 1924 in Adair County and was the daughter of the late James Tyler and Margaret Caldwell Tupman.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe R. Barbee; two brothers, J.T. and Billy Joe Tupman; and by two sisters, Jessie Shirley and Dorothy McClung.

She was a member of Columbia Christian Church and was involved in the family business and farm.

She is survived by two sons, Joe Lynn Barbee of Columbia and Jim Barbee of Buffalo, New York; one brother, Donald Tupman of Louisville; one sister, Ina Durham of Greensburg; three grandchildren, Susan Barbee-Harvey, Sarah Espinosa and Jennifer Earnhart; and by two great grandchildren, Annelise Espinosa and Amelia Ruby Earnhart.

Several nieces, nephews and friends, including a special caregiver, Danita Ritter.

Ms. Barbee donated her body to the University of Kentucky for medical research.

A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, Jan. 28 at 2 p.m. in the Begley Chapel on the Campus of Lindsey Wilson College with Bro. Raymond Martin and Bro. Paul Patton officiating.

The family will receive visitors after 1 p.m. Saturday at Begley Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Hosparus of Green River would be appreciated.
