Superintendent Alan Reed announced that the last day of school for Adair County students is now May 30 thanks to the newest legislation out of Frankfort for this year only.
The legislation grants schools a waiver that will allow districts to have schools open on Primary Election Day if the school is not used as a polling place. Because of this, Adair County students will attend school on May 20.
State law requires that students be in school for 170 instructional days and have 1,062 instructional hours. The legislation now allows schools to go under the 170 days as long as they have their instructional hours in.
To achieve the minimum hours, Adair County students will be going to school an extra five minutes each school day, which means getting released at 2:50 p.m every day, starting on Monday, May 5.
The last day for Adair County pre-school students will be Thursday, May 15 and senior graduation will remain on June 6.
For any questions regarding the new schedule, contact Robbie Harmon, Director of Pupil Personnel at 270-384-2476.
