A suspect has been arrested in connection with a report of shots fired on Lindsey Wilson College’s campus. According to witnesses, shots were fired in a LWC parking lot Thursday evening following a basketball game held between Campbellsville University and Lindsey Wilson College.
Columbia Police Department responded to a 911 call on Thursday night indicating an altercation in a parking lot on LWC’s campus. Additional calls came through indicating that shots had been fired.
Witnesses reported that the shots were fired into the air in a parking lot directly behind Biggers Sports Center, where Lindsey Wilson College hosts basketball games.
Officers were able to get a partial plate, vehicle description, and a description of the alleged shooter.
In a statement released by Dean Adams, LWC Vice President for Student Services and Enrollment Management, it would appear that the suspect left the campus immediately following the incident and has subsequently been arrested by law enforcement. Adams’ full statement is included below:
“Last night following the basketball game, witnesses reported shots were fired into the air behind Biggers Sports Center. The suspect immediately left campus. Local law enforcement responded to the 911 call. Lindsey Wilson College Public Safety and several staff members who were on campus also responded. We were notified by the Campbellsville Police Department that a suspect has been arrested. The suspect was not affiliated with Lindsey Wilson College. In addition, no LWC students or staff were injured.”
Following the incident, LWC was briefly placed on a lock down order and students were advised by resident directors to stay in their dormitories until further notice.
CPD Officer Charles Greer is in charge of the investigation and was assisted by members of Columbia Police, the Adair County Sheriff’s office, and Kentucky State Police.
