ACES Future Problem Solvers honored at Board Meeting

On Thursday night, April 17 the ACES Future Problem-Solving Team was recognized at the Adair County School Board meeting for their fantastic work securing fourth place in the state for Elementary Governor's Cup Competition.
The ACES Future Problem-Solving Team first took first place at the District Elementary Governor's Cup with their winning booklet on the topic "Rising Sea Levels."
ACES Future Problem-Solving Team traveled to Cub Run Elementary in Hart County on Saturday, March 1, where they secured first place and the Elementary Regional Governor's Cup Championship with their winning booklet about the topic “Agricultural Industry.”
Until recently, the Region marked an end to Elementary Governor's Cup Competition. This year, the Kentucky Association of Academic Competition added a new challenge for elementary teams: whoever won the FPS Regional Championship would qualify to have their booklet submitted and scored at the state level.
The ACES Future Problem-Solving Team set new goals, rose to the challenge, and finished in fourth place out of 31 regional champions across the state of Kentucky.
Coach Jeana Pike said, “I knew this was a special group, and I’m so proud of all of their accomplishments this year. This was no easy feat, especially at the elementary level because we start from scratch learning the six-step creative problem-solving process it takes in completing a booklet.
“This win and working with these students is one of the highlights of my year. I am so happy for this group and this honor is so deserving. They represented our district, school, and community well. Way to go, ACES FPS Team! We are ACES!"
