(Corrected on July 3, 2024, 7:35 p.m. to correct the name of the assistant band director who resigned. Our apologies for the error.)

On Tuesday morning, Adair County band director Jordan Humphress and assistant director Bryce Willis resigned effective immediately. Humphress has served as band director for three years, and prior to that he served as assistant band director from 2017 to 2021.

Superintendent Jason Faulkner said Tuesday evening that while their departure was unexpected, a search is already underway for replacements.

Faulkner said that band camp, which is slated to begin next week, is still currently expected to take place. Band boosters scheduled a meeting for Wednesday night, which was after presstime.

The Community Voice was unable to reach Humphress before deadline to ask for a comment.

In a press release Wednesday morning, Faulkner said, “We extend our gratitude to Mr. Humphress for his hard work, commitment, and service to the Adair County Band Program. The search for his replacement has already commenced. Our aim is to ensure a smooth transition to a new Director with minimal disruption to the services and opportunities provided to the students involved in Adair County’s esteemed band program.”
