Billy Joe Curry, Sr., 81, Columbia passed away Saturday, May 3, 2025 at Norton Brownsboro Hospital in Louisville. He was born in Columbia on August 20, 1943 to the late Russell Bennett and Lillie Allene Pike Curry. He was also preceded in death by a brother Ernest R. Curry.
Mr. Curry was a devout Christian and active in the church. He enjoyed talking and cutting up with his friends and family, playing rook, gardening, music, religious studies and eating chocolate. His career path span from construction work as a teamster to owner and operator of Curry’s Screen Printing for the past 40 years. He was proud to have served on the Adair County Board of Elections for 32 years, ending in 2016.
Survivors include his son Joey Curry (Debbie); daughter Janice Ellen Curry; grandson Evan Curry; brother Donnie D. Curry and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family.
Funeral services will be 11:00am Friday, May 9 at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with burial in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4:00-8:00pm and will continue Friday morning until time for the service.
Bro. Jamie Bryant will be officiating and pallbearers will be Randy Curry, Evan Curry, Kevin Shepherd, Johnny Pike, Jeff Johnson and Rodney Redmon. Honorary pallbearers will be Murrell Burton and Ivan Greer.
