Boys expand their season record to 5-1

Posted

As of now, the Adair County Indians sit at a comfortable five-to-one win ratio for the season and are number one in District 20 with two district wins to their name.
Last Friday and Saturday, the boys had two back-to-back wins in away games against Campbellsville and Bowling Green. Campbellsville served as a conference game, netting the Indians a solid win margin of 75 to 50. The first quarter indicated the game would be far closer and much harder fought: the Eagles fell to the Indians by a single point, 16-15. Over the subsequent three quarters, Adair County expanded their lead exponentially, pulling ahead with a 23 to 9 second quarter, a 16 to 12 quarter three, and a 20 to 14 quarter four.
The boys’ win against the Bowling Green Purples was far too close for comfort, with the Indians eking out a narrow 61 to 57 win. The four-point margin of victory, though, did allow for Brayton Coomer, senior forward for the Adair County Indians, to hit 1,000 career points. This marks two weeks in a row that an Indian has hit a career high; last week, Connor Loy surpassed the program record for career points.

The Indians’ game against North Oldham on Wednesday night was not played before presstime. Their next game will be at Mason County on Dec. 27 at 7:30 p.m. and will be their final game of the year. They will open 2025 on Jan. 2 with an away game against Russell County at 7:30 p.m.
