Charles Edward Pelston, 67, of Columbia, passed away Tuesday, November 5, 2024 at his home. He was born in Campbellsville on May 6, 1957, a son of the late Cora Lee Pelston and Winfrey Herron Jr.
Mr. Pelston was a veteran of the United States Ary. He was a laborer, having spent his working years as a mechanic and a farmer. Mr. Pelston will be long remembered for his humorous outlook and will be missed by many fishing and bingo buddies.
He is survived by his wife, Cathy Culver Pelston of Columbia; six siblings, Bonnie Tuttle, Nita Tuttle, Sherry Barnett, Teresa Barnett, Holly Herron, and Amanda Crow; two stepchildren, Raymond Ward and Jeffrey Allen Curtsinger; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Joann and Joseph Culver; his sister-in-law, Jennifer Widner and husband Michael; a host of extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two siblings, Junior Herron and Marilee Herron.
Funeral services were held Saturday, November 9, 2024 in the chapel of L.R. Petty Funeral Home with Bro. Steve Orr officiating.
Full military honors were conducted by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.
It was Mr. Pelston’s request to be cremated after the services.
