Frances Akin, 91, of Columbia, passed away Saturday, August 17, 2024 at Summit Manor Nursing Home in Columbia. She was born in Springfield, Illinois on February 12, 1933 to the late Clayton and Evelyn Reliford Keltner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Theron Akin; a son, Stephen D. Paul; and two siblings, Johnny Wayne Keltner and Dixie Lee Wright.
Mrs. Akin was a member of the Trinity Church and enjoyed crocheting, playing the piano and most of all babysitting many children that she considered her own grandchildren.
Survivors include a grandson, Richard Edward Paul of Louisville; two step-grandchildren, Samantha Jones (Casey) and Justin Childress; two step-great-grandchildren, Penelope and Willow Jones; a daughter-in-law, Wilma Jean Paul of Louisville; a sister-in-law, Violet Keltner; a brother-in-law, Junior Brown (Marilyn); a former daughter-in-law, Vickie Withers Thompson; three nephews, Rod, Brad and Rick Keltner; special caregivers, Cara Brown (Chad) and their daughters, Macy Shively and Ally Brown.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with Bro. Steve Pescosolido officiating and burial in the Columbia Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Rod Keltner, Brad Keltner, Junior Brown, Chad Brown, Brad Brown and Jeralyn Spires.
