Geneva Pearl Wisdom, 95, formerly of Adair County, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2025in Campbellsville. She was born on November 2, 1929 in Amandaville, Cumberland County to the late Charlie and Mary Lee Williams Firkins.
Geneva lived a life defined by faith, love, and kindness. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who touched the hearts of everyone she met. Her gentle spirit, unwavering faith in God, and unconditional love for her family were the foundation of her life.
Geneva was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, James L. Wisdom; her son, Jack L. Wisdom; and her infant granddaughter, Dona Kay Wisdom.
Geneva will be lovingly remembered by her children, Charles (Kay) Wisdom, Phyllis (Kenny) Shipp, Larry (Wanda) Wisdom, and Joyce Pyles; grandchildren, Jhana Wisdom Shive, Chastity Yarberry Spalding, Tonya Wisdom Brown, Kenny Wisdom, Alisha Pyles Knight, Lindsey Wisdom Ragsdale, Latasha Wisdom Queen, Taylor Wisdom, Olivia Wisdom Begley, Stacey Beard, Kerri Shipp Brown, and Samantha Porter; 25 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren. Geneva also leaves behind many beloved friends and extended family members who will forever hold her close in their hearts.
Geneva was a skilled seamstress, dedicating over 30 years to Bob Evans Apparel in Burkesville, Kentucky, and the OshKosh B’Gosh No. 2 Plant in Columbia, Kentucky. Geneva found joy in gardening, sewing, crocheting, and cooking—gifts she shared with her children and grandchildren, creating memories and traditions that will endure. She was a dedicated member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church and cherished her time with her Bethel Sunday School class. Geneva’s greatest joy was spending time with her loved ones, welcoming them with open arms and a warm meal. Her legacy of love, kindness, and faith will live on through the many lives she touched.
Geneva’s life was a testament to love, resilience, and faith. She will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 4, 2025 at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with burial in the Fudge Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00-8:00p.m. and will continue Friday until time for the service at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.
Bro. John Butler and Bro. Larry Wisdom will be officiating, and pallbearers will be Kenny Wisdom, Taylor Wisdom, Gage Shive, Chandler Wisdom, Preston Wisdom, Steven Spalding, Lucas Ragsdale, and Jackson Ragsdale. Honorary pallbearers will be First Cumberland Presbyterian Bethel Sunday School Class.
