Dawson Gilbert will be the only returning starting varsity player for the Adair County Indians basketball team for the 2025-26 season. Gilbert has been a starter for the Indians since his freshman year.
He is excited to take on the new leadership role for the team.
“Going from being the youngest starter to being the oldest is going to be a lot different,” he noted.
Gilbert said that once Coach Jordan Brangers came in and told him his plan for the next season, he became excited about the future.
This season will give Gilber the opportunity to be a leader, to call plays and to prove to himself what he is capable of on the court.
With over 1,000 career points and a 41 percent average from the three-point line, his playing style is already consistent with Brangers’ method.
Gilbert is optimistic that the team will have a good season next year and hopes that the fans come out and continue to support them.
