Golf balls flew from both sides this Monday at Lindsey Wilson College’s The Pines. The Adair County Girls’ Golf Team sparred against Southwestern in a home game at the pines this Monday.
The Adair County ladies were rewarded for their hard-fought game with a win, beating Southwestern 205 to 218.
“We had a season record yesterday…against a team that beat us just last week by only five strokes,” said Head Coach Ashley Goodin. “It was good to get payback, if you will. We continue to improve each week so it’s good to see that.”
Making up that 205 figure were five girls with Adair County playing against Southwestern’s four players. To break down the 205, Ila Loy scored a 45; Ashley Loy scored a 49; Claire Loy scored a 56; and Shae and Laney Inchcliff scored a 55 and a 57, respectively.
“We have such good support form parents and families so I really appreciate that—it makes a huge difference to these girls when they have someone watching to play for,” said Coach Goodin.
Along with the win for the golf team, Coach Goodin’s B-Team roster played a nine-hole, par three match. The score for this 350 with two players out. Raegan Atwood scored a 45; Reesa West scored a 51; Maci Spears finished the game with a 56; Addy McMinoway came in with a 56, as well; Ava Loy got a 70; and Delcie Burton finished with a score of 72.
Coach Goodin stated that the team has new goal: “to break 200 in a nine-hole match.”
The girl’s next game is a home match, also at the Pines, and will be held Thursday, August 15.
