Girls struggle against Taylor County

Posted

The Adair County Lady Indians fell to the Taylor County Lady Cardinals on Friday night by nine points, scoring 40 to Taylor County’s 49.
The girls were often playing catch-up to Taylor County’s lead and managed to shrink it several times within spitting distance, but the Lady Indians never could quite surpass their opponents.
While the girls made plenty of free-throws (nine shots landed out of 12), they seemed to struggled to make baskets against Taylor County. The girls made 13 out of 46 field goal attempts. They also had 23 rebounds.
Kinzlee Akin was the highest scoring girl on the court Friday night when she shot 20 points for her team. The junior scored five out of eight attempted two-pointers, two out of seven attempted three-pointers, and four out of four free-throws. The team’s youngest player on the court, seventh-grader Ila Loy, also performed well. She managed nine points with a two-pointer, two three-pointers, and a free-throw. She had the highest three-pointer accuracy on the team.
Even with this recent fumble, the girls still maintain an even nine-to-nine win rate for the season thus far and are third in the district. Their next game will be against Campbellsville this Friday at 5:30 in the Adair County High School gym. The next day, they will face off against Pleasure Ridge Park.
