Jean Wheeler, 78, of Columbia, died Saturday, June 29, 2024 at 7:18 a.m. at University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.
She was born on August 15, 1945 in Adair County to the late Owen and Reaemma Rogers Kemp. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Wheeler; a daughter, Valerie Kay Wheeler; her brother, Rayburn Kemp; and her sister, Ernestine Lloyd.
Jean was employed by the Adair County School System for over 30 years, retiring as Cafeteria Manager at Adair County High School, attended Gradyville Baptist Church and was an avid Adair County and University of Kentucky basketball fan.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Annette and Allen Rowe of Columbia; her son and daughter-in-law, Todd and April Wheel of Cynthiana; seven grandchildren, Chase Firkins (Carolyn Burton), Sasha Abott (Josh Wilson), Heather Rowe, Lucas Rowe (Alisha), Pinky Zieseniss, Nikita Schwachter and Memphis Wilhoite; 17 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home with Bro. Adam Pruitt officiating and burial in Antioch Cemetery.
Casket bearers were Chase Firkins, Lucas Rowe, Joe Rogers, Ernie Rogers, Allen Rowe and Jeff Johnson.
Grissom-Martin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
