Jeffrey G. Sparks, 72, of Columbia, passed away Saturday, February 1, 2025 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Lexington. He was born in Columbia on March 28, 1952 to the late W. A. and Claristine Richard Sparks.
Mr. Sparks attended the Cane Valley Baptist Church and was a veteran of the U. S. Army. He was a farmer and former employee of Summit Manor Nursing Home and an advocate for pet rescue with the Green River Animal Shelter. He enjoyed watching wrestling, tinkering in his shop, and spending time with his family and friends, especially his granddaughter Willow.
Survivors include his wife Phyllis Taylor Sparks of Columbia; a daughter Tabetha Sparks of Morristown, TN; a granddaughter Willow Sparks; a sister Sue Sparks of Campbellsville; nieces and nephews Jason Sparks (Leslie), Hailey Staten (Chandler), Briley Taylor, Sherry Burris, and Casey Taylor (Sheavon); a brother-in-law Barney Taylor (Nancy); a sister-in-law Kathy Taylor and several great nieces and nephews, friends and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother Larry Sparks, and brother/sister-in-law Chester Taylor and Sharon Parson (Vernon “Bunny”).
Funeral services were held Tuesday at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with burial in the Haven Hill Cemetery. Military honors were provided by VFW Post 6097.
Bro. Barney Taylor and Bro. Clay Scott officiated, and pallbearers were Chandler Staten, Briley Taylor, Jason Sparks, Casey Taylor, Jason Lacy, and Willard Parson.
