Juanita S. (Janes) Underhill, 90, of Shepherdsville, returned to her Heavenly Father on Saturday, February 8, 2025. She was born January 23, 1935 to the union of Hobson and Mabel Tabor Janes in Columbia.
She was a member of over 30 years at South Jefferson Christian Church and for more than 30 plus years at Medora Christian Church in Louisville and a Ladies Auxiliary member at the V.F.W. Juanita was a homemaker all her life, a job she loved. She also worked for a short time at Bethany United Methodist Church in the childcare department.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her first husband of over 30 years, Billy J. Smith; a great-grandson, Benjamin Smith; one stepson, David Underhill; and siblings: Bernard, Lois, Patricia and Linda.
Survivors include her husband of over 30 years, James E. Underhill; nine children, Joyce Armes, Sandra Williamson, Michael Smith, Janice Smith, Karen Brangers, Steven Smith, Shelia Stein, Cheryl Taylor, and Mark Underhill; 21 grandchildren, 25 great- grandchildren, & four great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 14, 2025 at 1 p.m. CST at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home in Columbia,
Burial will be in Chestnut Grove Cemetery.
