The Columbia Adair County Fire Department set a new department record for donations collected for the Crusade for Children.
The WHAS Crusade for Children, Inc. raises money for agencies, schools and hospitals to better the lives of special needs children.
Throughout the year, the fire department has fundraisers, including a pancake breakfast, silent auction, and roadblocks. The money donated in Adair County is all used to help children in Adair County.
The grand total for this year was $64,971.33, which is the most that has been raised in Adair County history. The total was over $15,000 more than the 2024 collection.
The Columbia Adair County Fire Department was founded in 1954 and began raising funds for the crusade that year. The fire department usually turns the money in at a satellite location in Campbellsville, but with the record setting number this year they chose to go to Louisville to the main location.
“We appreciate the continued support from everyone who has donated to this amazing cause and especially to our firefighters and their families,” said Grant Loy, public information officer.
