This morning there were two separate rumors at ACMS about a school shooting. One rumor came from a Facebook Post about a school out of state. The other report came from a careless statement made by a ACMS student.
Both students have been identified and were immediately called in to investigate the reports. There was never any legitimate threat to ACMS.
"In today's world we have to, and we are going to look into everything," says director of pupil personnel Robbie Harmon. "We investigate any type of report that we receive with the help of law enforcement."
ACMS principal Alma Rich and administrators met with all students today to help reduce any anxieties they had and to praise them for their quick reports to adults this morning. After speaking with the students, a School Messenger call was sent out to Adair County Middle School parents/guardians to help communicate the situation.
ACMS is encouraging parents to talk to their kids about making alarming statements and about reporting any suspicious activity immediately to adults.
"If you have any questions please feel free to contact Adair County Middle School and ask for Alma Rich or call the Adair County Board of Education and ask for Robbie Harmon."
