Sherman D. “Dean” Gillock of the Acton community in Taylor County, the son of the late Floyd Herron Gillock and Olivine Hadley Adams, was born in Danville on March 26, 1952 and departed this life on Monday, September 2, 2024 at his residence. He was 72 years of age.
He professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Feathersburg Church of God where he loved to serve. He was a retired truck driver and enjoyed socializing and “loafing” and a good cup of coffee.
He is survived by his loving wife, Anna Catherine Ford Gillock of Elk Horn; three children, Deanna Carol Barnes and husband James of Campbellsville, Kristy Ann Gay and husband Matthew of Florida, and Tyler Blake Gillock and wife Cindy of Knifley; and four grandchildren, Kayla Barnes, Lylah Barnes, Destiny Rhoades, and Dylan Rhoades.
Also surviving are several siblings, Larry Gillock (Brenda) of Russell Springs, Herlin Gillock of Dunnville, and Wilma Owens (Bob) of Florida, and special friends, Gene and Phyllis Wilson.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by several siblings, Shirley Shoopman, May Elliott, Shirl Gillock, Vina Marks, and Hollis Gillock.
The funeral for Sherman D. “Dean” Gillock will be held today, Thursday, September 5, 2024 at 10 a.m. CT at the L. R. Petty Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Alex Cox and Bro. Richie Carroll officiating and burial to follow in the Callahan Cemetery.
