The Adair County High School volleyball team played a series of matches at the Bluegrass State Games this weekend.
“Our efforts this weekend earned us placement in Varsity Flight #3… we battled with some teams who advanced far in their regional tournaments last season and Dunbar who went to the state tournament,” Head Coach Michelle Neat said, complimenting her team’s efforts.
The series of games were against Eastern and Dunbar on Friday; Frankfort, Scott, and Newport Central Catholic on Saturday; and Bowling Green on Sunday. For Eastern, the girls won 21-15, 14-21, 15-8. They lost to Dunbar 14-21, 21-19, 19-15.
On Saturday, they won against Frankfort 14-21, 21-18, 15-6, and lost to Scott and Newport Central Catholic 16-21, 13-21 and 13-21, 21-14, 4-15 respectively. Their final game against Bowling Green saw Bowling Green win 9-21, 31-21.
By winning their first game of the Bluegrass State versus Eastern on Friday, the team automatically found themselves in a bracket with stronger competition, a testament to their abilities as athletes.
“It was good to see our team respond to playing these top tier teams. This season is going to be fun,” Coach Neat said.
The team’s next game is Aug. 10 and is a Mid-South Scrimmage at Bowling Green.
