David Taylor, former treasurer of the Adair County Fire Department, has been charged with five counts of theft by unlawful taking dating back to 2011.

Taylor was indicted by the Adair County grand jury on Tuesday. He was released on bail on a $40,000 property bond.

The indictments charge that Taylor stole at least $10,000 on five different occasions. Dates specified on the indictments are as follows:

– Aug. 2 through Sept. 19, 2011

– Jan. 25 through Oct. 3, 2012

– Jan. 2 through Dec. 11, 2013

– Feb. 2 through Dec. 22, 2014

– Jan. 20, through June 22, 2015

Kentucky State Police is investigating the case. Taylor was treasurer of the fire department and worked full-time as paramedic and assistant director of Adair EMS when the fire department contacted KSP to investigate some financial discrepancies. Taylor resigned as EMS assistant director and was suspended with no pay as a paramedic.

Taylor is scheduled to appear in Adair Circuit Court on Oct. 6 at 1 p.m.
