From Robbie Harmon, Director of Pupil Personnel at Adair County School District
Today around 11:15 a group of diligent students reported to administrators at Adair County High School that a comment was made stating a threat on the school. Administrators immediately completed an investigation, resolved the issue, and determined that there is no immediate threat to the safety of our students today or in the foreseeable future.
Parents please take time this weekend to have a discussion with your children about making inappropriate and insensitive comments. Today this student thought that his inappropriate comment would be funny and entertaining. We want everyone to understand that these types of comments will not be taken lightly and are neither funny nor entertaining in any way.
As always, we strongly encourage students, parents and staff to report any comments that are threatening in nature and again thank the students for reporting this issue to us. If you have any questions, please contact us at the school at 270-384-2751.
Although this wasn’t an actual threat, school resource Ofc. Atwood is currently investigating and charges are pending on this student. We are not sending out this information to cause alarm but we just want everyone to be informed and know that we take these kinds of comments seriously.
