The Adair County Sheriff’s department arrested and cited three Columbia natives for drunk driving this week. In the early hours of Sunday morning, 31-year-old Brenton Shepherd was arrested at Fivestar on Jamestown Street for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs/alcohol, second offense and Shepherd was also charged with operating without operator’s license in possession. Shepherd was arrested and lodged in the Adair County jail by Deputy Josh Durbin.
Later Sunday evening, 20-year-old Jamie Rodgers was arrested and charged for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs/alcohol less that 21 years of age, leaving the scene of an accident, and assault 4th degree. According to police, Rodgers had been involved in an accident at 600 Vester Road where she left the scene and drove to 344 Curry Road where a physical altercation with a family member took place. Rodgers was arrested by Deputy Durbin and lodged in the Adair County jail.
Early Tuesday morning, 57-year-old Michael Smith was also arrested on charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs/alcohol, fourth or great offense. Smith was also cited for operating without operator’s license in possession and careless driving. According to police, Deputy Joey Keith observed Smith’s vehicle driving in a careless manner on Hwy. 61 south. Smith was arrested by Deputy Keith and lodged in the Adair County jail.
