Amy Denton, Scott Hoosier and Melissa Manning have all pleaded guilty to assaulting a handicapped person.
Denton, 23, of Russell Springs; Hoosier, 26, of Campbellsville; and Manning, 26, of Columbia; all pleaded guilty to an amended charge of assault, 4th degree.
In July of last year Adair County Sheriff’s deputy Justin Claywell and Columbia Police officer Bruce McCloud responded to a residence on Russell Road after they had received a complaint that a mentally handicapped person had been beaten.
According to arrest warrants, the man had been beaten and stabbed with thumbtacks in the head, shoulders, legs and ears.
Charges against Kenneth D. Barrett, 34, of Columbia, are still pending. Barrett is charged with criminal abuse, 2nd degree. A motion was filed last month ordering a competency hearing for Barrett. He is scheduled for a pre-trial conference on March 13.
Final sentencing for Denton, Hoosier and Manning is scheduled for March 13 at 1 p.m. The commonwealth is recommending 12 months in jail and probation at the discretion of the court.
