An Adair County husband and wife are confirmed to be two of four people who died in a boating accident on Lake Lanier in Georgia yesterday.
According to reports, local businessman and car dealer Anthony Reece, 44, and his wife Tammy, 44, were in Georgia for a poker run that took place today. They were on the lake with Art McMahan, 46, of Mt. Washington, and his wife Melissa McMahan, 45, on McMahan’s boat when the boat flipped.
According to officials with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, the bodies of Tammy Reece and Melissa McMahan have been recovered. The two men are still missing.
According to a report in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, search teams found the women’s bodies using special tracking equipment that works with limited traffic on the water.
Because of high boat traffic during the day Saturday, officials will not resume using sonar to search for the missing men until the early evening. However, searching the lake surface will continue all day Saturday, DNR spokesman Maj. Stephen Adams said.
