On the evening of Friday, August 30, Columbia Police initiated a traffic stop with a 2001 beige Pontiac on Burkesville Street.
Upon making contact with the operator, officers could detect a strong odor of marijuana on the operators person and inside the vehicle.
K-9 Matt signaled within the car and the subject also admitted to having some marijuana on his person.
Adrian Morales, 32, of Columbia was taken into custody and charged with numerous traffic and drug related charges. Morales was additionally charged with giving officers a false name and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, a class C felony.
Officer Evan Burton was the arresting officer and was assisted on the scene by officer Jordan Dean and Sheriff’s deputy Josh Durbin.
The Columbia Police Department received a complaint on Saturday, August 31 of a female subject passed out in a vehicle along with another male and small child parked in a gravel lot near Sleep Inn and Goodwill.
Officers responded, but the vehicle was no longer in the area when they arrived.
A vehicle matching the initial description was later located at FiveStar on Hudson Street and contact was made with a male and female who had a three year old male child with them.
Search of the vehicle yielded findings of narcotics, drug paraphernalia and a crystal substance consistent with methamphetamine.
Brandi Roberts, 22, and Joshua Wethington, 21, both of Liberty, were taken into custody with charges including possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance unidentified, possession of a controlled substance methamphetamine and endangering the welfare of a minor.
Social services were notified because of the presence of the child. He was later place in the care of a grandmother.
